Welcome

The high school offers a broad curriculum with a wide range of Cambridge subjects.

The curriculum is unique to Rydings in so many aspects. Pupils are introduced to pure science subjects like physics; biology and chemistry right at form one. With this approach pupils have ample time to establish their potential in the science domain and hence make informed and proper decisions on possible lines of study. Other subjects on offer include Mathematics, Computer studies, English language, English literature, French, Geography, Accounts, Business studies, Art, history, Shona, agriculture, Wildlife Management and Religious studies. At forms one and two pupils are expected to study all the seventeen subjects. On entering form three pupils are required to take ten compulsory subjects prescribed by the school and as many as they can from an optional list. All science subjects are compulsory up to form four including Mathematics, Geography, English language, Agriculture, Accounts, Business Studies and Computer Studies.
Pupils can then pick extra subjects from the remaining seven. As the pupils proceed to Advanced level emphasis will be mainly sciences and commercials.

Boarding

Boarding at Rydings Senior provides a safe and structured environment for our pupils to study and thrive in. Students learn to interact with each other in a positive manner through accepting each others faults and looking past them.

Hostels

At Rydings, the friendly hostel life provides a home away from home environment. In our hostels we care about light, space, warm baths and cleanliness. Full and weekly boarding facilities are available. Senior boys and girls are housed separately. Each hostel is equipped with a large plasma television and a DSTV Explorer decoder. During entertainment times the students watch television in the comfort of their hostel common room under the supervision of the live -in hostel matrons. The school also offers laundry services and a maid who provides cleaning services at regular supervised intervals.

Care

The school has some qualified health personnel who attend to the students when they require any health services. The services of a medical doctor are available on request.

Guidance and Spiritual Care

As a Christian school full boarders attend Sunday church services which are conducted by different pastors across different denominations. Weekends at Rydings allow the students the unique opportunity of venturing into Rydings Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary boasts of a wide variety of animals that the children get to see and interact with. Children learn about flora and fauna first hand through bird watching, fishing, tracking and tree and plant identification with their experienced game rangers. The experienced kitchen staff provides excellent three basic meals a day with teas juices and snacks in between the basic meals. Upon producing a medical report from the doctor students with special diets are catered for.
